GODFREY Davis has launched two new initiatives to help fleets cut up to one third off their fuel bills. The first programme is to use Godfrey Davis's FACS software to analyse fuel card costs against specific vehicles, identifying where fuel purchases, fuel consumption and performance levels fall outside predetermined boundaries.

FACS can download transaction data from the major fuel card providers, and enables fleet operators to manipulate this to identify rogue vehicles and drivers. This has helped some Godfrey Davis customers reduce fuel costs by up to 10%.

'Very few companies put in the resource necessary at the operational level to analyse and identify where day-to-day savings can be made,' said John Lyons, managing director of Godfrey Davis.

The second initiative is the publication of a best practice 'Guide to Cutting Fleet Fuel Costs,' which helps fleets to formulate a fuel policy. This covers issues such as the type of fuel bought - cutting out super unleaded, for example - the pump price paid for fuel, average consumption figures, and how to police the policy. 'A Guide to Cutting Fleet Fuel Costs' is available free of charge from Godfrey Davis on 0181-420 5646.
