THE Vauxhall Vectra has been voted Fleet Car of the Year by the Association of Car Fleet Operators. And to complete a double celebration for the Luton-based manufacturer the Astra van was voted Fleet Light Van of the Year. The Ford Transit - as in all previous years of the award - was the runaway winner of the Fleet Panel Van of the Year award.

Vectra's triumph in the ACFO awards follows on from the car's triumph in the 1997 Fleet News Awards last March when it won the upper medium sector award. Vauxhall fleet director Mike Bonner said: 'Vauxhall is thrilled about this award from the influential Association of Car Fleet Operators, particularly as it is the second major award Vectra has won this year. There can be no greater testament to how good Vectra is than this endorsement from professional fleet managers. The award appreciates the whole picture of owning and running a car and it is the endorsement that companies and drivers alike need when choosing a car.'
