DEMAND for Renault Scenics next year could reach 35,000 units, according to the manufacturer which has seen sales top 10,000 units in the UK since the model's launch six months ago. At launch Renault UK projected that 10% of Scenic sales would be for the top-of-the-range RXE 2.0 litre costing around £16,000.

Six months later sales of the model have taken a 20% share second only to the RT 1.6 which has taken a 58% share. Customers for Scenic have come from all areas of the market with more than half trading in small and lower medium sector cars and 14% trading in executive, MPV and 4x4 models. To cope with demand for the Megane range and particularly the Scenic a third shift will start next month at the French factory where the vehicle is built.
