NEW figures from TopCalc reveal 32 out of 49 Volkswagen models are cheaper to run than equivalent Ford or Vauxhall models. Volkswagen has published the fifth issue of its Wholelife Cost Guarantee tables which reveal that fleets can save between £156 (£9,745 Polo 5dr 1.4 CL) and £1,746 (£10,250 Golf 3dr 1.4L) over three years/60,000 miles by operating the German manufacturer's cars instead of the cheapest equivalent Ford or Vauxhall models.

The tables also reveal 17 Volkswagen models which are more expensive to operate than equivalent Ford or Vauxhall models and in those cases Volkswagen will support those vehicles to the tune of between £12 (£15,780 Golf 3dr 2.0 GTi 16v) and £780 (£12,950 Golf estate 1.8 CL 90bhp) over three years/60,000 miles.

The tables, compiled using pence per mile figures from TopCalc, list all Volkswagen Polo, Golf, Vento and Sharan models with figures for the new Passat to be announced when the car goes on sale in the UK in April.
