HSS rewards its safest drivers

HSS Hire Service Group's safest drivers have been rewarded for their skills in a competition to find the HSS Driver of the Year. The winner Ron Taylor, of Rochester, is now planning a trip to Mauritius with his prize of £1,000-worth of holiday vouchers.

The competition was run by HSS fleet manager Alex Sard in conjunction with Peak Performance Management Driver Training. The day included timed tests ranging from manoeuvring in small spaces, steering and braking, off-road driving in a 4x4, changing a wheel, first aid knowledge and directing a blind driver through cones, to driving a JCB.

Taylor was picked as winner, with Brett Halliday, of Heathrow, winning a two-week courtesy car from Fiat for coming second and Paul Drokan, of Liverpool, winning a food hamper from Peak Performance for coming third.
