A LIVERPOOL company with a 130-strong fleet is turning its back on Ford in protest at the company's plan to stop building the Escort at Halewood. Greenberg Glass is hoping other organisations will follow suit in a bid to persuade Ford to change its mind over the move, which will result in 1,300 job losses.

Marketing director Beryl Greenberg said: 'We hope some other small firms will take similar action and that this may be more successful than the workers striking. We will not be going back to Ford unless they change their policy.'

Around a third of Greenberg Glass's fleet of cars and light commercial vehicles is currently made up of Escort vans and cars and Mondeos. As these come up for replacement, Ford will not be considered.
