THE new Vauxhall Corsa - though in Opel badge form and without the distinctive V-grille - made its world debut. On sale in the UK from May 1, the Corsa has established itself as a major vehicle in the small car segment, particularly as a result of Vauxhall's driving school deal with the BSM Group.

Meanwhile, speculation that the Signum estate car - General Motors' vision for a future generation of lifestyle vehicles - could go into production was dismissed by a Vauxhall spokesman. The car appeared at the show powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine but the spokesman told Fleet NewsNet: 'There are no plans to build Signum.'
