VAUXHALL has given its entry-level Sintra people carrier - which goes on sale on Friday - a sub-£20,000 price tag. The competitive price reflects the increasingly crowded marketplace which Vauxhall is entering as brand new models from Renault and Chrysler also enter the fray.

The entry level CD 2.2 16v five-seater costs £19,100 on the road, the seven seater version of the same, £19,600. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, ABS, dual airbags and alloy wheels. For £25,350, the CDX 3.0 V6 adds cruise control, electric sunroof and electric front seats. Options on the CD include: extra seat (£750), electric sunroof (£700) and winter pack (£360).
