VOLKSWAGEN increased prices of the Polo, Golf, Vento and Sharan models by an average 0.85% on Monday. At the same time VW has added a 1.9-litre TDI 110bhp powered model in CL, GL and Carat trim levels to the Sharan range and made air conditioning standard on all GL and Carat versions.

Volkswagen claims average fuel economy of 44.1mpg using new EC figures for the new Sharan giving a range of up to 728 miles on one tank of fuel. The engine is also featured in the new Passat with peak power developed at 4150rpm with maximum torque of 173lbs ft developed at 1900rpm.

On the road prices for the three new models are: CL (five seat) £19,091 (automatic £20,146), CL (seven seat) £19,663 (automatic £20,718), GL £21,724 (automatic £22,779), Carat £23,575 (automatic £24,630).
