MOBILE fleet servicing operators Auto Service Group has become the latest company to sign up to the AT&T TransLease electronic trading scheme. The Bristol-based company operates a fleet of 100 mobile servicing vehicles and performs more than 3,000 regular services on fleet vehicles each month.

Richard Tarring, managing director of Auto Service Group, estimates 90% of regular services on fleet vehicles require a telephone call to the contract hire company which owns the vehicles, to gain authorisation for work to begin. By introducing TransLease hopes are high that in the future 100% of services will be authorised using the system.

Five leasing companies - Autolease, British Car Contracts, Ford Contract Motoring, Highway and Lex Vehicle Leasing, have signed up with TransLease, with eight other companies likely to join. Four fast-fit companies - ATS, Hi-Q, Kwik-Fit and NTS - have also joined.
