SUPERMARKET giant Safeway has signed a dual-badge contract with Volkswagen and Ford to supply cars for its 1,500-strong fleet, which was previously solus Rover. The entire Volkswagen car range features on the fleet policy, with the Sharan becoming the first MPV to be included on Safeway's choice list. Employees will also have an extensive choice of Ford vehicles.

Safeway's fleet is managed by BCH Vehicle Management Services, which will be offering an additional scheme alongside the fleet policy enabling employees who don't qualify for a company car to get preferential terms on a Polo, Passat or Sharan.

BCH conducted a tender process on behalf of Safeway involving most of the major manufacturers, with the stipulation that vehicles should be supplied on contract hire by one of the 'big four' and an emerging manufacturer.
