VAUXHALL and Ford are to extend their experiments in providing three-year warranties on selected vehicles. Ford will continue to offer three-year cover on Probe, Scorpio and Galaxy until the end of September, while Vauxhall is offering a three-year deal on a different selection of vehicles.

After initially offering three-year/36,000-mile warranties on Vectra, Omega, Calibra and Sintra, the offer will be extended to August 31 and will include the Monterey, although the Vectra and Calibra no longer qualify. Both manufacturers announced what were widely seen as a 'toe in the water' exercises in April in response to growing pressure from both fleet and retail sectors of the industry.

Neither offer is open to fleets, although business users with under 100 vehicles will receive three year/60,000 miles cover on Ford Transits and light vans and a similar level of cover on Vauxhall's lcv range as part of the launch programme for the Arena van.
