NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Ambulance Service has taken delivery of a pair of Ford Maverick off-roaders as go-anywhere transport for paramedic station officers. Based at Nottingham and Newark, the long wheelbase turbodiesel versions were chosen after the ambulance service evaluated a number of 4x4 vehicles.

The Mavericks are used to get to the scenes of major incidents and for towing and will be particularly useful in the more inaccessible rural areas of the county and during extreme weather conditions.
