CAR crime involving company vehicles has experienced a dramatic 19.8% fall over the last 12 months. In the three months leading up to July 1997, 13.2% of the 110,000 vehicles VELO looks after on accident management were involved in a theft incident, either of or from the car. This figure is 4.3% down on the previous quarter, and continues a steady decline.

Tina Neale, operations director of VELO Motor Accident Management, said: 'Manufacturers are now introducing more sophisticated anti-theft measures as standard on new models, while older models are being phased out of fleets. 'We believe equal praise should go to fleet managers and drivers for implementing risk management measures to combat car crime, which have resulted in a marked improvement in vehicle security and drivers' attitudes to the subject.'
