Esso to contract hire British ex-pat fleet

ESSO Petroleum is to contract hire nearly new, low mileage cars for its ex-patriate workforce in Britain through Hertz Leasing's Leasesaver service. Leasesaver is designed to dispense with the high depreciation costs associated with brand new vehicles and therefore tends to offer lower rental costs and more flexible contract periods.

In the past Esso Petroleum outright purchased vehicles as and when required for personnel coming to work in the UK and then disposed of the vehicles when the employee returned home. The new system will enable the company to meet its varying fleet needs more efficiently and cost-effectively. Although the size of Esso's ex-patriate fleet varies in size it typically numbers around 100 cars.

Esso Petroleum has a strict policy of only providing Ford Mondeo 1.8 models, but as many employees are from the USA the cars must be automatic. If Hertz has problems locating an automatic model straight away a pre-contract car is supplied on its Lease Start programme so that drivers are mobile.
