TRAFFICMASTER has announced plans to launch a pilot information scheme in October in and around Winchester in conjunction with Hampshire County Council. This will provide motorists entering the city with information such as current car parking capacity and restrictions, road closures and works, park and ride schemes and other information which is all designed to improve traffic flow.

David Martell, Trafficmaster's chief executive, said if the pilot proved successful, the company would roll out a similar service to other interested towns and cities during 1998. Trafficmaster currently covers the UK's motorway network and by early next summer virtually all the country's trunk roads will be covered.
