TRANSLINC, Lincolnshire County Council's soon-to-be-privatised transport operation, looks set to be bought by its management and employee team. The council received two tenders for the operation - one from Midland Fox, which is part of Arriva, and the other from an in-house team, which has been chosen as the preferred bidder and has entered into negotiations.

If all goes to plan, the team will begin running TransLinc as a private company on February 1. Three of the TransLinc management team, managing director Brian West, sales and marketing director John Soulby and director of logistics Carole Smith, have been joined by finance director Stephen Jago, formerly group finance director of Smiths Self Drive.

TransLinc provides full contract hire packages for other public sector bodies and runs a fleet of 140 vehicles, the majority of which operate on special needs contracts.
