BOLTON Metropolitan Borough Council has taken on 59 LDV vehicles as part of its on-going fleet replacement programme. This is the third consecutive year that the authority has bought mainly LDV vehicles.

The latest order is made up of 23 2.2t Pilots, 20 2.8t Convoy City vans, seven XLWB factory-built Luton vans with tail lifts, four 3.5t XLWB dropside trucks, three XLWB Convoy Crewcab tippers and two LWB chassis cabs fitted with Linktip refuse tipper bodies.

Most of the vehicles will be used by the council's housing department. The large internal capacity, flat floor, side load door and interior racking have effectively been used to turn the Convoys into mobile workshops enabling plumbers, builders and electricians to work remotely from central stores.
