VOLKSWAGEN has improved the specification of the Passat to bring the car more into line with its upper medium competitors. The entry level 'S' trim level will now come with a sunroof as standard, and this can be upgraded to air conditioning for an extra £415.

The SE and Sport models receive climate control air conditioning as standard for the same price as current sunroof models. There has been no price increase to cover the changes, and Volkswagen will give cash bonuses for stock at dealers or in the pipeline which features the old specification. The Passat saloon S without a sunroof will attract a bonus of £700, while SE and Sport models without climate control will attract a bonus of £500.
