VAUXHALL will offer its new Frontera with a three-year/ 60,000-mile warranty when it goes on sale on October 20. The move, which comes as prices for the new model are announced, is intended to highlight the confidence the company has in its product.

It also extends a 'toe in the water' exercise carried out last year, when it offered a three-year/ 36,000-mile warranty on some models, but excluded fleets. This time fleets can also benefit from the offer. To buy an extended warranty for the same time and mileage would have cost £530 before the new move, which brings the model into line with 4x4s offered by other manufacturers, including Land Rover, indicating the initiative will not spread throughout the Vauxhall model range.

Prices start at £16,620 for the Sport 2.2i petrol and £17,795 for the diesel. Standard spec includes driver and passenger full-size airbags, remote central locking, and shift-on-the-move four-wheel-drive. The cheapest Frontera estate costs £18,920 for the 2.2i petrol (£20,095 for the diesel), to £20,420 for the Estate Limited with 2.2i petrol engine (£21,595 for the diesel), with the V6 topping the range at £22,295.
