Glasgow buys fleet of Convoys

GLASGOW City Council has placed a multi-million pound order with LDV for 267 Convoy vans. The deal, announced at the Motor Show trade day involves a mix of of 2.8-tonne short wheelbase vans, 3.1-tonne long wheelbase vans and 3.5-tonne crewcabs.

They will be used in the council's building and works division and replace a mainly LDV fleet. Ross Blyth, Glasgow City Council's transport manager, said: 'Following extensive vehicle evaluation, we opted again for the LDV Convoy because of its class-leading wholelife costs, cubic capacity and excellent dealer back-up.'

The order is the latest in a long line of Glasgow area wins for LDV and main dealer supplier Lex Commercials. Earlier contracts include 60 vans and 20 factory tippers for the West of Scotland Water Authority and 70 Convoy Hi-Loaders for the Bunzl Fine Papers Group.
