ILL-HEALTH has forced Norfolk County Council's car scheme manager and former Fleet News Fleet Manager of the Year finalist Stuart Young to retire. Young has stepped down from his post due to severe arthritis.

He joined the county council in 1986 and has overseen the conception, birth and growth of a 650-vehicle fleet in which he helped reduce accident levels which contributed to cost savings in fleet operations. Cheryl Hewett, Young's former administrative assistant, is on secondment as car scheme manager for 12 months.
