GE CAPITAL Fleet Services has acquired the assets and trading operations of Pantech Vehicle Services and Motor Industry Marketing (MIM) for an undisclosed sum. Based at Thurleigh, in Bedfordshire, the two businesses provide vehicle storage, preparation, inspection and disposal services, in particular for motor manufacturers, including Vauxhall.

About 7,000 vehicles can be stored at Thurleigh. Pantech was within the year appointed as GE Capital Fleet Logistics' main preparation and handover sub-contractor for its Vauxhall business. MIM will continue to carry out inspection activity for its existing customers and will be merged with GE Capital Fleet Logistics' inspection services.

The process of change and assimilation into the GE Capital brand began on November 16 when representatives from the company visited Thurleigh to assess re-signage, refurbishment and development. Once this is complete an investment figure will be decided. The MIM and Pantech names will eventually be lost and the Thurleigh operation marketed under the GE Capital Fleet Logistics banner.
