NATIONAL Car Rental has signed a one-year sole supplier contract worth £2.2 million with Barclays Bank. The contract, estimated at 200,000 rental days, will provide vehicles for bank staff travelling on business between the company's 2,000 sites in England and Wales. The cars will be used largely by non-company car drivers, although the 6,000 company car drivers will use the rental vehicles when their own vehicles are off the road.

Barclays Bank rental arrangements were previously handled by Alamo Rent A Car and EuroDollar, both of which have been acquired by National Car Rental and subsequently merged under the National name. The new contract went live last month. Part of the agreement sees Barclays Bank operate National Car Rental's paperless rental management system, Speedlink.
