CAR glass giant Autoglass has begun a major recruitment drive for extra staff to work in its branches across the country. The firm has launched a national campaign to recruit 100 fitters, increasing its current total of 1,000. The company says a steady increase in business has resulted in the push for extra staff.

In addition Bedford-based Autoglass has received an award from the Glass Qualifications Authority for being the first company to put 1,000 staff through the car glass NVQ course. Michael Reed, who works in the company's Romford branch, was the 1,000th recruit to achieve the NVQ in car glass fitting.
