LEADING newspaper and magazine distributor Surridge Dawson has taken on National Tyres and Autocare to provide a tyre management service for its 400-strong van fleet. The Tyre Solutions package, which replaces a deal the firm had with ATS, covers everything from replacement tyres to administration and includes a fixed cost per vehicle element.
The firm pays a set price per vehicle, covering average replacement costs. If there is an underspend, the two firms share the saving, but if there is an overspend, National will meet the cost. Surridge Dawson's vans, mainly Ford Transits, which are part of a 515-strong fleet of vans and cars, cover between 20,000 and 30,000 miles a year. Each year the van fleet gets through more than 1,000 tyres.
