A REPORT is set to reveal that Government department fleets and ministerial cars are failing to follow their own 'green' motoring guidelines. A Liberal Democrat operation is under way to try and prove that little to nothing has been done within the Government and its departments to switch to alternatively-fuelled vehicles and reduce car use despite much bravado.

Liberal Democrat MPs have asked senior ministers a series of questions in the House of Commons in a bid to ascertain how 'green' each department's fleet has become since the Labour Party took power more than a year ago.

Lewes MP Norman Baker, is putting the report together with the help of a fellow Liberal Democrat, and says that already he has found a startling lack of change to departments' fleets. Once the report has been compiled Baker says there will be a dedicated Liberal Democrat team to continue to put pressure on the Government and monitor how individual departments are performing.
