NISSAN has added a new model to its five-door Primera range - the SX - which on both price and specification beats the GX model. The manual Primera SX will cost £14,495 on the road powered by a 1.6-litre 16v petrol engine and £15,095 powered by a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine.

Those prices compare with the hatchback Primera GX which costs £15,125 on the road as a 1.6 16v and £15,725 as a 2.0 turbodiesel and is being retained in the model line-up. However, specification enhancements over the GX, which until now has fitted into the Primera range above the entry-level Equation, include: 15in alloy wheels, manual sunroof with sunshade, perimetric and ultrasonic alarm, new interior trim, chrome door handles and leather steering wheel.

Like the rest of the Primera range the SX, which is on sale now, features standard air conditioning, ABS and driver's airbag. A Nissan spokesman said there were no plans to introduce saloon or estate versions of the SX.
