DAILY rental giant Hertz Europe is restructuring and merging some of its headquarters operations with those of Hertz UK. The efficiency drive will lead to job losses in back office departments, although neither sales and marketing nor fleet will be affected.

Charles Shafer, president of Hertz Europe, said: 'We are creating a more efficient and more productive organisational structure by combining some of our UK operations with our UK-based European headquarters. Concurrent with our consolidation of the back office, we will implement a new global accounts receivable system that will be a major enhancement.' It is not yet known how many jobs will be lost, but the restructuring is expected to be completed by February 5.
