HYUNDAI is entering the people-carrier market for the first time with an seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle. Making its world debut at the London Motor Show and called the Trajet it will go on sale in the UK and the rest of Europe in spring 2000.

The Trajet is slightly bigger than a Volkswagen Sharan, but will be priced alongside smaller rivals such as the Vauxhall Zafira. Its extra length will also mean that it can accommodate luggage as well as people. Two engines will be offered from launch, a 2.0-litre and an all-new 2.7 V6 petrol unit, while a new 2.0-litre common-rail diesel engine is likely to join the range later.
