SEAT is preparing to introduce an eight-model range of its Leon hatchback into the UK, spanning 1.4 litres and 75bhp up to a 180bhp turbocharged sports version. There will be a choice of two diesel engines as well as a 1.6-litre 100bhp version.

It will be available in four trim levels and feature Climatronic (electronically-controlled air conditioning), a satellite navigation system, ABS brakes, traction control, electronic stability and anti-skid controls. Also standard according to model choice will be four airbags, electric retractable door mirrors, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and a sound system with independent earphones for rear seat passengers. Prices will range from £12,000 to £18,000 when the range goes on sale next spring.
