FIAT will enter the UK mini-MPV market in January when it launches the Multipla, which received its UK debut at the London Motor Show. The distinctively-styled Multipla will compete head-to-head with the Renault Megane and Vauxhall Zafira and while prices have yet to be announced, Fleet NewsNet understands they are likely to be targeted directly at Scenic, which started the mini-MPV revolution.

The Multipla went on sale in Italy a year ago and in other European countries in January this year, where it has been in demand. Its unique selling point is its ability to seat six people across two rows of seats. However the seating configuration is flexible for two, three, four, five or the maximum six, with removable rear seats and folding backrests on all six seats for extra space.

There is 430 litres of boot space with all seats in use. The Multipla will be launched in the UK with two engine options - the 1.6 16v and 1.9 JTD - and two trim levels SX and ELX.
