Miles make money as VW charity drive raises £25,000 for BEN

A RECORD 28 teams took part in the 1999 Volkswagen Fleet: Bora Charity Drive which raised £25,000 for BEN - the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund, the main recipient of the total amount of money raised and each team's nominated charity smashing last year's total fund of £16,500. A total of 28 teams took part - 15 more than last year.

The winning distance of 436.1miles was set Company Car magazine. Shortest mileage and best press car: Company Car, driven by Graham Middleton and Ann Middleton for Cystic Fibrosis. Treasure trail: Testwood of Totton, Scott Paddock, Ken Clay. The Rose Road Children's Appeal. Best dressed car: Gilders of Hillsborough, Richard Storey, Paul Gregg and Barrie Myers. The Sheffield Children's Appeal for Sheffield Children's Hospital. Most money raised for charity: Martins of Basingstoke, Andrew Evans, Lois Bradford. Macmillan Cancer Relief.
