Yaris wins car of year award

THE Toyota Yaris, which went on sale in Europe in April, has been voted European Car of the Year 2000 by 56 motoring journalists from 21 European countries.

Initially launched as a 1.0-litre model, a 1.3-litre version has now entered showrooms and they will be joined in January by the Yaris Verso - a small MPV. A total of 108,000 Yaris cars have been bought since launch.
