AUDI has announced prices and specification details for the new range-topping 4.2-litre V8 quattro versions of its A6 saloon and Avant models. The manufacturer unveiled plans to introduce the 300bhp engine - as fitted in the A8 - into the range, featuring Tiptronic transmission, earlier this year.

Equipped with permanent four-wheel-drive and Electronic Stability Program as standard, along with front and side airbags, and sideguard head level airbags as an option, the cars will cost £43,398.55 on-the-road for the saloon and £44,567.68 as an Avant. Specification includes electronic climate control, remote control central locking, electric front and rear windows, electric mirrors, front sports seats, a leather-trimmed 'sports' steering wheel and a driver's information system.

Orders are now being taken with the first deliveries expected at the end of next month. Prices for the new Audi TT Coupe quattro which goes on sale in Britain in the summer are £26,645 for the 180bhp 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and £29,645 for the flagship 225bhp model.
