INTERNATIONAL food service company Compass has awarded a fleet management contract for its 1,000-plus vehicle fleet to c.2K. The deal consolidates on a contract hire agreement covering the fleet won by c.2K under its previous name - Evans Halshaw Fleetcare - last year.

From the beginning of March, the Compass fleet will also be maintained by c.2K, with drivers carrying c.2K cards (which use the Overdrive network), and purchases authorised by c.2K staff. Previously maintenance management was supplied by Overdrive. Direct computer links are being installed at Compass, which will enable the firm to monitor all aspects of fleet management and check vehicle costs.

Around 300 Compass vehicles supplied under a previous contract hire arrangement with Swan National and Newcourt Automotive Services will come under c.2K's control as they are replaced. Tim Mason, UK group company secretary at Compass, said: 'This development will enable us to focus more clearly on our core activities while saving on overall fleet running costs.'
