SUBARU'S parent company - Fuji Heavy Industries - has gained ISO14001 certification - the international standard for environmental management systems. The accreditation covers each of FHI's four car plants in Japan where models such as the Subaru Impreza, Forester and Legacy are built.

The company is now looking to obtain ISO14001 certification for all of its manufacturing bases throughout Japan by the end of this year. The joint Subaru-Isuzu Automotive factory in the United States of America which supplies the UK with Subaru Legacy Classic estates already has ISO14001 accreditation.
