NATIONAL Tyres and Autocare has radically restructured its fleet operation into National Fleet and backed the new organisation with a guarantee to reduce fleets' tyre costs. A new IT system and call centre will underpin National Fleet, directing drivers to NTA's outlets, authorising work according to fleet requirements and offering a single number for fleet managers to call for all sales administration, invoicing, credit management and account management information.

Fleet customers also have the option of a tyre implant, outplant, or NTA's outsourced tyre management service Tyre Solutions, which also promised to cut the tyre bills of major fleets when it was launched in 1997. National Fleet's new cost savings guarantee applies to all customers and is based on a promise to achieve a customer's preferred fitment policy, to fit the lowest number of tyres per invoice and be aggressive on pricing.

Roger Hawkins, fleet business director, said: 'State-of-the-art computer systems will mean accurate invoicing, detailed management reports and uniform, competitive pricing. There seems to be a growing concern from fleet managers that a disproportionate amount of their tyre business is going to one supplier. With the launch of National Fleet, we believe they have a realistic opportunity to redress the balance.'
