THE Bank of Scotland has bid £74 million for truck and trailer leasing and hire company Hill Hire. The proposed acquisition will give the Bank of Scotland representation in the commercial vehicle market to complement its car and light van contract hire and leasing interests under the brands of Godfrey Davis, First Mutual Contracts and Capital Bank Vehicle Management.

But Gordon Barclay, managing director of Bank of Scotland Business Banking, said the group had no plans to amalgamate the operations under a single roof. The directors of Hill Hire will remain with the business.
