IMPROVING the interiors of Vauxhall cars is one of the priorities facing General Motors' design gurus, according to Wayne Cherry, vice-president of General Motors design. He said: 'We are very focused on interior design quality. It is the number one priority for the design team responsible for Vauxhall/Opel products.

'Interior design is very important. I don't think it will be a 'boom-boom' change, but I think there will be gradual changes. At every opportunity we have, I think there will be an improvement in interiors.' Some industry insiders believe Volkswagen upped the interior design stakes with the quality of the new Golf.

And with General Motors putting innovation at the core of its future with its 'be first, be fast, be flexible' tagline, more radical exterior design looks set to also be on the cards for Vauxhall vehicles as revealed with the Zafira Snowtrekker.
