A NEW fuel card giving fleet managers more up-to-date information on their vehicles and access to cheaper fuel prices has been introduced by Shell. The euroShell card will gradually replace the existing Shell Gold and includes improvements in management information through euroShell Online, and the facility to e-mail management information reports.

It also offers a pricing mechanism based on Shell's national average price, which could benefit people refuelling on motorways or in rural areas, as well as the option of preferential rates on AA breakdown and recovery services, and accident management. The euroShell Online facility provides fleet managers with secure access to their management information through the internet.

A Shell spokesman said the management information provided by the new card would not cost any more, but the online facility, depending on the size of the business, could cost an extra £40-80 per month.

But he added that the option of choosing the national average Shell pump price would offset any increase in the cost of using euroShell over Shell Gold.
