LEASEPLAN has become the world's largest vehicle leasing and fleet management company with the acquisition of United States-based Consolidated Service Corporation (CSC) reports FNN sister title Fleet News Europe.

Located in Chicago, CSC manages a fleet of 400,000 vehicles on behalf of more than 3,000 corporate customers. Significantly, over 250 of these companies also have vehicles in other regions of the world, creating major opportunities for the LeasePlan group to create international fleet solutions for its new customers.

LeasePlan already operated a fleet of 527,000 vehicles in the United States, but earlier this expressed its desire to expand further to achieve critical economies of scale. The company has calculated that 60% of the world's top 200 fleets are based in the US.

On a global scale LeasePlan now has a fleet of 1.2 million vehicles, making it the largest leasing and fleet management company in the world. The two companies will continue to operate from their respective offices, LeasePlan in Atlanta and CSC in Chicago.
