Ford hots up panel van race

GROWING competition in the van market has prompted Ford to issue the new Transit with a three-year/100,000-mile warranty package. The previous generation Transit came with a one-year/unlimited mileage package in line with the rest of Ford's range in the UK.

But with Mercedes-Benz's new Sprinter model offering a three-year/unlimited mileage warranty, Ford has been forced to bring its own package up to scratch.

Ford of Britain director of Commercial Vehicles, Robin August, said the company had taken action to create a 'level playing field' for customers.
