KWIK-Fit Hometune is to almost double its fleet of mobile servicing vans to 260 over the next two years as part of a plan to extend the service nationwide. The company admits it could mean fewer customers at static servicing sites, but says going mobile makes the operation more competitive.

Simon Roper, managing director of Kwik-Fit Fleet, said: 'Hometune works in the same way as our Kwik-Fit Mobile tyre fitting service supplements our fast-fit centre.

'Company car drivers are demanding maximum convenience, and Hometune takes away the collection and delivery problems. In theory it could take business away from the static centres, but it means we're keeping the business before it goes elsewhere.'

He added that the success of the Kwik-Fit Mobile tyre fitting service showed many fleets wanted services brought to them.
