FORD is recalling about 2,500 new Mondeos across Europe including 800 in the UK due to a possible airbag fault. The airbag control module in some cars could malfunction, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate, and in rare cases may prematurely deploy the side curtain airbags, according to Ford.

Work to replace the module takes about 60 minutes. There have been no reports of injuries or accidents due to the fault, and all future customer deliveries of Mondeos will already include the updated module. The only vehicles which have displayed the fault so far have been Ford's own cars and dealer demonstrators.
