VOLKSWAGEN group is pushing SEAT into more upmarket territory with the launch of an all-new Ibiza.

Destined for the UK next Spring, the new supermini is designed to reinforce the Spanish brand's growing reputation for sporty cars - but with a new emphasis on design and style to boost its desirability and reposition it as a more aspirational vehicle.

In the flesh, the newcomer attempts to embody Iberian flair and passion with some distinctly Latin styling cues which are decidedly similar to Alfa Romeo - another Southern European premium marque with a reputation for combining performance with style.

SEAT chairman Dr Bernd Pischetsrieder added: 'The new Ibiza is the future of the development of SEAT. This is a revolution in terms of quality, in terms of size and in terms of positioning in the market.'
