Extra power option gained by 406 diesel

A MORE powerful diesel Peugeot 406 hit showrooms this month using the 2.2-litre HDi engine from the 607. The new 406 produces 136bhp and is fitted with a particle filter to improve CO2 emissions, 168g/km for the saloon and 170 for the estate.

The engine produces 44% more torque than the 2.2-litre petrol 406. The engine is only available with high-spec GTX and Executive models, with prices starting at £19,390 on-the-road, with satellite navigation as standard.
