WITH many van manufacturers gearing up for a sales boost as stores begin to offer home delivery via the internet, LDV unveiled its own home-grown delivery vehicle at the Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC, Birmingham. Built on the proven Convoy chassis, the vehicle runs on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and is fitted with a reversing camera to help drivers in built-up areas.

The body is a refrigerated one featuring an environmentally-friendly refrigerant and evaporator with a brushless motor. LDV special vehicle operations marketing manager Kevin Childs said: 'The LDV team recognises that the home shopping market is rapidly expanding and has created its own dedicated team to tackle it.' LDV also announced a new approved used vehicle programme after seeing its sales triple in the last four years. Customers will be offered a variety of marques, which will include full history check and mileage certificate, multi-point examination, MoT for the life of the vehicle and a full service.

The manufacturer has secured a £1 million order from Everest, the leading home improvement company for 40 Convoy Hi-Loaders featuring dual-fuel LPG and petrol systems. LDV national sales manager Bob Thompson commented: 'It is LDV's ability to tailor-make vehicles which wins us these new orders. Our special vehicle operations team is world-famous for leaving no stone unturned.'
