UP to a third of leasing company business could be carried out over the internet if contract hire firms invest in the right technology to serve their customers, a leading software solutions firm claims. Motivity Solutions claims its research has shown that some leasing firms now channel 30% of their business through the internet after introducing online services, but says the key is getting the system right in the first place.

The firm, launched in 1990 by Dave Culy, provides a range of software aimed at leasing firms, including 'cradle to grave' services covering internet-based products, such as web-based lease quotations through to vehicle management, sale and leaseback systems and accounts. The firm's software has also been designed to allow different systems to 'plug-in' to its online function.

Colin Needs, commercial director of the firm said: 'There is a lot of interest in the internet and the benefits that leasing firms can bring to their customers through technology. The ultimate aim of any organisation is to provide the best service via the lowest cost means.'
