JERSEY'S three emergency services are centralising 'blue light' fleet management. The island, which employs 300 police officers, 100 fire and rescue personnel and 24 ambulance staff, has opted for Middlesex-based Freeway Fleet Systems technology to manage costs and keep tabs on servicing and assets.

Its three emergency services will remain as separate cost centres, but fleet maintenance has been centralised to one workshop, and the single Freeway system allows recharging to the blue light departments. IT project manager Mac Bouchere said: 'Freeway was selected because of its ability to handle the mixed fleet and complex cost centre requirement.'
